One of our favorite pictures from the year, from a beautiful spring evening sunset.

Snowshoeing
We just went snowshoeing for the first time, and did it on a 50 degree day.
We'd been eyeballing snowshoes for a while, and with birthday and Christmas money, finally pulled the trigger on two sets from Amazon last weekend. Of course, when we ordered them, it was snowing and like 20 below. Hopefully we'll get another decent snow to give them another run.
Sara says the maiden run went better than expected.

Steve entered a photo contest at central Nebraska's Stuhr Museum, and this photo of a beetle won "director's choice"!

Fog rolls in on Sylvan Lake
When a lake has a name like Sylvan, it truly is peaceful to watch the fog roll in.
If you ever visit the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota, a trip to Custer State Park is a must. There are several lakes in the park, and while Sylvan is small, you'll enjoy the view.
Plus, the trail to Harney Peak, the highest between the Rockies and Alps starts here too.

At the summit of Harney Peak
Happy Birthday Sara!
Here's one of our favorite photos from our recent trip to South Dakota. We hiked Harney Peak, the highest summit in the U.S. east of the Rockies. It was a tough hike, but worth it.

Habitat for Humanity
For the last few years, we've organized media build days for our local Habitat for Humanity group.
Here's a shot I snapped during last year's build. I like to think I'm more valuable to Habitat with a camera or a microphone than I am with a hammer, but I'm sure every little bit helps this worthy ministry.
The photo is one of my entries for the Nebraska State Fair photo show.

It was all Yellow
The latest color going up in our house, this time at the base of the basement stairs.
Leesha Harvey Concert
Our friends Leesha, Josh, and Levi played a concert in downtown Grand Island this week. It was a beautiful night for some great music.
Josh is also our youth pastor, and Levi's one of our former youth group kids.
Check out Leesha's music at http://www.leeshaharvey.com/ and her million plus views(!) on YouTube here http://www.youtube.com/leeshaharvey

Skillet
Admittedly, we're not the biggest fans of Skillet, but they do put on a fired-up show, as you can see from all the pyro here from their recent set at Cornerstone.

Eisley
One of Sara's favorite shows at Cornerstone was Eisley. We'd seen them before, opening for Mute Math in Omaha, but they'd never sounded better to us than on this night!
The band features a trio of sisters from Texas, along with their brother and a cousin. Check them out!

Over the Rhine
Some bands just seem to get better with age, Over the Rhine being a prime example. Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist share a mature sound that's a welcome relief from the hardcore, metal, and various other growly music you'll hear at a festival like Cornerstone these days.
Over the Rhine played for nearly three hours, an hour in the afternoon and two hours at midnight, with Eisley in the gap, making for a memorable and utterly enjoyable evening.

Seabird
We've been home from Cornerstone for a few days, and now it's time to sort through all the CDs we bought and photos we took.
One of the bands we really enjoyed was Seabird's music (maybe you've heard their song "Believe" in a promo running on NBC).
Even if you're not familiar with them, I hope you'll appreciate this photo of singer Aaron Morgan and his young daughter, who said she wanted “to see Daddy make music."
How precious is that!
And make sure to check out the band, with its unabashed feel-good sound.
