Engagement Photos
Lane took some photos of us last weekend. He posted one to his blog. Go to his site to see it, if you would. Lane will get us a disc full of shots, but for now, just check out this shot while Lane does his thing post-processing the rest.

The Dress
First, the ring, then the date. Now Sara has found the dress, and most likely the bridesmaid's dresses as well. No pics to share... you and I will have to wait and see. But this thing is starting to come together.

The Ring

There's the ring, as it was when I gave it to Sara after a game of Scrabble. Now that's what I call a triple word score!

Engagement pics
Things are falling into place. Case in point, our engagement pics. We googled wedding photographers, and I found that a guy who shoots for the local paper does wedding photography.
I'm especially picky when it comes to photography. But here I found a guy who's A) a professional B) my age C) into photojournalism and D) someone I already know.
Plus he checked out my photos on Flickr, and like this shot of mine (which I'm partial to also):
It was nice to find someone with a similar aesthetic.
And I reserved April 5th right before someone else inquired about it... someone also with the last name White. Weird. And he figured he could get one last outdoor engagement session in, so Saturday afternoon / evening we walked the alleys of Grand Island, and went to a local lake to get the sunset over the waters shot.
Now we're dying to see how they look!

We're getting married!
So I've kissed dating goodbye... and asked the lovely Sara Wilson to be my bride!
Friday was Sara's birthday. From the time we started going out, we pretty much hit it off and like the same movies and music and all that, and I knew it would work. Any girl who will listen to Mute Math and Anberlin and Mae and stuff with me is OK :) Anyway, after weighing like a zillion ideas, I decided to propose using a Scrabble theme on her birthday, considering it's her favorite board game.
So anyway, Friday morning I gave her a travel Scrabble game, which she thought was cool. After lunch we played that travel game in the park.
Later, we had a little dinner at Ruby Tuesday. Sara was excited because the Diet Coke was apparently the best ever. I had water. I missed out, apparently.
We came home, and I suggested we play a board game. Sara put in a movie and we played Scrabble. I think I tried to convince her I'd beaten her earlier and she needed to beat me. We played this time on the big board. Had she turned down Scrabble, I don't know what I would
have done, but it worked.
As we were playing, I wandered back to my camera bag where I'd left the ring. I slipped it in my pocket, while getting up to grab a drink.
I lost the game of Scrabble. I'll admit -- I threw the game. I hung in there through most of it, but tanked at the end. Sara leaned away from the table where we'd been sitting to watch TV, basking in her win.
I quietly re-arranged some tiles.
"Marry Me" it read.
She had no idea what was coming. I told her we should play something where we could both win. I got down on my knees, which was a little weird because we'd both been kneeling around the table.
I don't quite remember what I asked, but the response was filled with laughing, smiling, crying, and words like "yes" and "of course."
Parents were called, Sara couldn't say anything coherent.
So that's pretty much the story.
Stay tuned!
